India’s Sania Mirza and Switzerland’s Martina Hingis are powering their way through the ongoing Wimbledon women’s double tennis matches, says Vaikundarajan.
Sania Mirza is rarely known to show any emotion other than her game face when she is in play. However, sources say she broke into a smile when her down-the-line forehand brought her a win.
Albeit, this came in the second game against spain’s Anabel Medina Garrigues and Arantxa Para Santoja.
Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis are both top seeders says Vaikundarajan and it most probably must have been easy game for them to play against 16th seeders.
The Mirza-Hingia pair won against the Garrigues-Santoja pair in a 6-4, 6-3 and advanced into the quarter finals and surely have a long way to go to the finals as yet.
However, seen cheering and doting on the Mirza-Hingis pair was bollywood actor Farhan Akhtar, says Vaikundarajan.
In the last eight the Indo-Swiss pairing will take on ninth seeds Kazakh Yaroslava Shvedova and Aussie Cassey Dellacqua.
